Backup Your Google Blogger Blog

If, you like me use Google Blogger as your Blogging platform your probably wondering as I have how to backup your blog. I've spent a lot of time creating my blogs and I'd hate to loose all that because I didn't have a way to back them up.

Thankfully, the open source community has come to our rescue. Recently released, Blogger Backup is a small open-source Windows tool that backups both the posts and comments from a Blogger blog in Atom format. Just enter your Google credentials, select the blog you want to backup and decide how many posts you want to save.

Since it is Open Source, for your protection you may want to review the code yourself or have someone you trust look over the code just to make sure no one has tampered with it. But in my case it does the job.

It will export your blog into two Atom files on your computer, one for actual content and one for comments. But should the unthinkable happen you'll have to either write or have someone write a quick app that uses the Blogger API to restore the blog contents into the blog. Sorry, nothing is ever really free, and maybe by the time the unthinkable happens someone will have created a program to restore the backups.

But if I were you I'd backup your blogs just in case, I am.
